We welcome callers as this is a live broadcast and because we are “so 2009″ that  there is even a chat room where you can hang out in during the show. Repent America will be preaching during the inauguration next Tuesday with many other Christians.

This has been quite the exciting week. Our free speech case involving the handing out of tracts at the Univ. of South Dakota was heard on Tuesday. I flew to the midwest for the trial and let me tell you, it was chilly. 15 degrees below zero was what the car thermometer read when John Chisholm picked me up at the airport in Mpls/St. Paul.

I thought everyone did a great job in terms of the counsel we had in court. John Hughes a local atty from SD and KrisAnne Hall from Christian Law Association were our attorneys. After all was said and done… the verdict is… the judge asked for 6-8 weeks to read briefs from each side and then she will make a decision. Regardless of how the judge may rule I pray that the Lord is glorified. And of course I got to share the Gospel in court. Bonus! So we are in a holding pattern and are excited to get all of this behind us. I will keep you posted.  Jon Lane is in eastern Europe to join up with Jesse Boyd to preach the Gospel.  Jesse’s wife Jamie is as well as Jon’s 12 year old daughter are joining them. They will be back from that mission trip at the end of January.  Please pray for God to give increase to all the seeds that will be sown on that trip. Recently we have been hitting the streets and now that the campuses are opening up again for classes we have started our 2009 Campus Tour. Last weekend on Friday I went out preaching with Edwin Lo again and we preached in the skate park over in Scottsdale and was it a blast. He is a witnessing machine going from person to person like a bee collecting pollen. After watching him for quite some time and being astounded by the maneuvers and foul language of the skate boarders, I got to witness to an eight year old boy and a father who was there to watch his child. You know what is worse than going to hell? Well, it is allowing your family to go there too. The man I spoke to thanked me. He had a lot to think about.

Saturday we went to downtown Tempe again and handed out tracts and witnessed. My family went and the atheists were there again so we got to witness to them as well. One of the men we met out witnessing was Jim, who is 83 years old.  He is in a wheel chair handing out tracts, preaching and witnessing to the people passing by. He has been going out on the streets for 30 years. His ministry to the homeless down there is amazing. We were so blessed to meet Jim. His wife is 86 years old and they have nine grown children who are all serving the Lord.  They have many grandchildren and now great grandchildren!

Sidewalk counselors

in Flagstaff, AZ

On Thursday I joined some Christians at an abortion mill in Flagstaff, AZ. These sidewalk counselors do a great job in explaining to women the Gospel and warning them about the wages of their sin. Last year there were 365 abortions at this mill alone.  50,000,000 babies killed since 1973 :( right here in the United States…).

This “clinic” is arguably the most dangerous place in Flagstaff for the unborn to be. The murders are done with a drug called RU486. It is administered up to 16 weeks in the mother’s pregnancy and then she delivers the baby in a toilet after taking the poison. We stood outside the mill and held up posters and signs from 10:00 am til noon. The sidewalk counselors go there every Thursday, the day the abortions are done there.

We actually saw the abortionist twice, both when she arrived and when she left. This particular clinic was a Planned Parenthood and is located in an outside mall between two restaurants.

This 18 year old young woman decided to keep her child as a result of this ministry, and is now 21 weeks pregnant.  She comes out to counsel and speak to the young girls now that go into the murder mill.

I believe Planned Parenthood  should be called “planned murderhood”. It is so important that we take the time to speak to these women about the reality of what they are doing by murdering their own child. But even more importantly, we need to tell them the glorious Gospel of forgiveness and mercy so they can be saved.

Following the murder mill, we went to Northern Arizona University. At this particular campus I was allowed to preach from 1:00 to 3:00. It was a great day. Lots of students gathered and there was so much discussion and debate. The Good News went forth and there were several students there who were encouraged in their faith. Every Thursday, a group of Christians go to witness and minister to the students there.

When I quoted Scripture I told the students that all Scripture needs to be read in context and be read plainly.  One of the things I did was to challenge the Christians to share the Gospel with the other students on the campus. During the preaching, Rachael and her mother Elaine were in the midst of the students witnessing to them. They do such a great job. They go to the campus every Thursday and hand out tracts and witness, but today we added a little volume to the message.

At one point a student said to me, “you have no right to tell us that abortion is murder, you’re not even a woman.” So I asked Rachael’s mom Elaine to come over and say what she thought about the truth of abortion. The student didn’t say anything after that.  Several Christian students came up to us after I finished preaching and wanted to learn more about witnessing and sharing their faith on campus.

I received an e.mail later that day from one of the students who asked me to describe what my view on
Matthew 7:6 was, given in context,  “Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.”

My response was something like this:

The “pearls” are the Good News of the Gospel. If a person does not understand and admit they are a law breaker, the good news will not seem good, it will sound foolish. That is one reason why it is important to share the Law of God first so people can come to the knowledge of their sin, and realize what Jesus Christ has done for them, and understand that it is good news. Additionally, everyone who hears the message is not a swine. There are people who are in a crowd that are genuinely humbled and are then ready to be saved, by the grace of God.  If they remain proud and thinking they are good, they may not be ready to be given the “pearl”.   But we know that ”Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17.

I learned this response for this specific verse from having listened to Way of the Master Radio which is now wretched radio.  Todd Friel is the host of the show and does a wonderful job of addressing these types of sincere questions from both believers and non believers.  Additionally Michael Marcavage had just schooled me in this verse, praise God.

Prior to going out to witness and preach, I must have taken the log out of my own eye, sin from my life, and then in love bring the Gospel to this lost and dying generation. I pray for the Lord of the harvest to bring forth more laborers into his harvest. (i.e. men, who preach the truth boldly in word and in truth).

Well, I gotta get going.  May the Lord bless you.  We welcome your e.mails, blog comments, encouragement and feedback.  Keep the faith, my dear brothers and sisters in Christ.

In Him,

Shawn

  1. Oh to see you in my mind’s eye with so many precious brethren whom we love, out sowing holy gospel seeds …. We miss you terribly! I love the photos too! The one of Rachel & that pretty mom … I am so blessed!

  2. Although I’ve been keeping myself from evangelism for some time now,
I am truly motivated and am touched by what God’s doing out there in ‘America’. Hopefully we will get to serve sometime in the future together which I am looking forward to, even so.
